The three main bets
| Bet | Pays | House edge |
|---|---|---|
| Banker | 19:20 (5% commission) | 1.06% |
| Player | 1:1 | 1.24% |
| Tie | 8:1 | 14.36% |
Banker wins slightly more often than Player because of the drawing rules, which is why the casino takes a commission on it. Even after the commission, Banker is the cheapest bet on the table. Tie looks tempting at 8:1 but costs more than thirteen times as much.
New variants and what they change
- Speed baccarat: the same rules with rounds of about 25 seconds, so you play roughly twice as many hands an hour and lose roughly twice as much on average.
- Squeeze: the dealer peels the cards slowly. Same odds, slower pace, which helps a budget last.
- No commission: Banker pays even money, except a Banker win on six, which pays half. The edge on Banker rises to about 1.46%.
- Lightning and multiplier tables: random multipliers on some wins, paid for by a fee on every bet or lower base payouts.
The game's help screen lists the payouts and the RTP. Read it once before your first hand on any new table.
Side bets
Player Pair, Banker Pair, Dragon Bonus and Lucky 6 pay big because they rarely land. Their house edge runs from roughly 2% to over 10%, several times the main bets. Keep them to a small share of a session, or skip them.
Betting systems in Singapore dollars
Martingale doubles after each loss. Start at S$10, lose seven hands in a row and you have lost S$1,270, with S$1,280 needed on the eighth hand, often above the table limit. Seven Banker losses in a row happen in a long evening of speed baccarat.
Fibonacci and 1-3-2-4 raise stakes more gently. They change the size of your bets, never the odds, and road maps such as Big Road or Bead Plate record past hands without predicting the next one.
A budget that holds
- Set a loss limit for the session before the first hand and stop when you reach it.
- Bet in fixed units, for example S$5 or S$10, and do not raise them to chase a loss.
- Bonuses rarely help: many casinos count baccarat at 10% or less towards wagering, or not at all. See why a bonus fails.
- Use deposit limits in your account; our responsible gaming page explains how.
